Wilswood Bouys & Henshaw

Friday 3rd May 2024

Wilswood Buoys from Mersea Island in Essex are a young, new, and exciting duo currently cutting their name into the UK underground scene. Mixing trad folk, with modern alternative acoustic pop, the band have a sound that’s raw, fresh, familiar, and accessible.

Wilswood Buoys are Josh and Joe and, like a lot of bands, are a couple of mates who from simply getting together for a jam saw things quickly escalate into writing music and playing local gigs. Both had a completely different upbringing in terms of musical styles leading them down a path of intertwined genres worked into one, with a thread of catchy riffs, natural chemistry, and big, bold choruses. 2023 saw them complete their first UK tour with Frank Turner, followed by a support for The Levellers on their acoustic tour. Additionally, they played many festivals including Boomtown Fair and Northern Kin Festival. Frank Turner also produced their acclaimed debut album ‘A New Beginning‘ which was released in January 2023, an album crammed full of barnstorming sing-a-longs ready to unleash on audiences across the UK and beyond!

Paul has spent a good deal of the last few years knocking lumps out of his guitar and singing passionately about life and his own experiences. He tours relentlessly across the UK, Europe and has played as far afield as the USA, Canada, China and Taiwan. Part of the Xtra Mile Recordings / Nick Alexander Music Trust PET NEEDS Tour, Henshaw released "NOBODY CARES, WORK HARDER" in May 2022 and a busy year followed with appearances at the incredible REBELLION Festival, Hear for the Music and Ey Up Mi Duck festivals and a host of other shows. NOBODY CARES, WORK HARDER is a follow up to the hugely acclaimed FIVE COMPASS LIGHTHOUSE which was released in 2019

Early 2020 saw Paul team up with Dan Booth from FEROCIOUS DOG to play a short run of intimate duet gigs that was hugely popular and received universally positive feedback. The pair also released "REVISIT" a duet album consisting of 10 Henshaw penned songs. They celebrated the end of lockdown with a SOLD OUT show in Feb 2022.
